Some tubs are purely practical. This one isn’t. The Art Resin Bathtub is cast in one piece from translucent turquoise resin, with ridges that sweep around the body the way water stacks up on a beach. Put it in a plain room and the room stops being plain. That is the point of it.
The blue goes all the way through.ย Nothing here is painted on. Color pigment is mixed into the liquid resin before casting, so the blue runs through the full thickness of the wall. The gradient โ pale cyan near the rim, deep azure where the resin is thickest at the base โ comes from the material itself, not from a finish. Because the walls are translucent, light passes straight through them. In daylight the tub throws a soft blue wash onto the floor around it. In the evening, with lamps on, the lower ridges trap the light and seem to glow from inside. There is no wiring in this tub. That glow is just how the resin behaves.
It feels different from an ordinary tub.ย The interior is seamless and glass-smooth, so there are no joints for soap scum to hide in. The one-piece wall is thick enough to hold warmth: heat stays in the water instead of bleeding into the room. At 1750 mm long and 650 mm tall, there is room to stretch your legs out and sit properly deep. The body is fiberglass-reinforced resin, which gives it strength without the brittle, delicate feel you might expect from something this glossy.
